Student of the Month - Mrs Cauldwell

Well done to Mrs P. Cauldwell who has been named as Student of the Month.

Mrs Cauldwell started at Chuldow in January of this year and is now a 7th Key Yellow Belt in Wado Ryu. Mrs Cauldwell started karate to follow in the interests of her two children and her husband who are all 6th kyu Orange Belts in Wado Ryu here at Chuldow. Lets hope the Cauldwell family continue with their successes in karate and weapons.

I stated in last months Student of the Month post that because there are so many great students here at Chuldow, in all disciplines, it is an honour to be named Student of the Month, something to which we should all aspire to. This award goes to show the dedication and heart Mrs Cauldwell has put into her martial arts training and proof she is following the 6 principles.

Well done Mrs Cauldwell, keep up the good work.

Chuldow Students Run 1008 Miles

All

You may remember that last month Chuldow members ran 1008 miles to raise money to send Miss Rock and Miss Watson to the WKA World Championships in Germany in August. Well we are pleased to announce that enough money has ben raised to pay for the full trip, amounting to some £800 each. The full amount of sponsor money is not known yet, as money keeps comning in in dribs and drabs. Any money raised above this amount so far will go into a fund for next years championships, do not forget that 6 members were chosen, but only Miss Rock and Miss Watson can go. If 6 go from Chuldow next year a head start in the fund raising will be very welcome, as we will try to pay fully for any Chuldow member being chosen to represent his / her country. It is an honour to be chosen and it does not seem fair that they have to worry about finding the funds as well as worrying about competing.

WELL DONE ALL AT CHULDOW FOR RAISING THIS AMOUNT!!!!!

We wish Miss Rock and Miss Watson all the best.

Weapons Course Write Up - Sai by Miss Drexler

Miss Jade Drexler (Senior Instructor of Sai) has kindly provided the following write up on the group she taught at the recent weapons course, the weapon being Sai:

What a day! starting training at 09:30 in the morning, I don't know how they do it. 7 hours of hard intense training in one day. From the morning learning new kata's and techniques, to the afternoon where all the hard work and knowledge comes to good use, the grading.
The morning bgan with a 1 mile run, then an hour training session followed by a 15 minute break. During this training session we focused on techniques so that in the next session we could practice the new stances for our kata's, 4 direction techniques, defences and combination techniques.
Below: Going through techniques with Miss Drexler and Mr Varley in front.

After lunch we had another hour training followed by an hour 'free play'. This is where you have the opportunity to swap your wepon (non bladed) with someone else and ask them to help teach you how to use it.
Overall the day was a success. Every student gave it their best. All 6 principles of being a Chuldow martial artist were shown throughout the day and that is what made it a success.
WELL DONE EVERYONE!!!!

Thank you Miss Drexler for that write up, your contibution to the blog is very much appreciated as is Miss Walkers (see post below).
Once again thank you.
